A home exercise program for the legs

Maybe you just want to be prepared for top-notch at-home workouts when it’s hard to get to the gym, maybe you’re trying to maintain your progress during a pandemic, or maybe you just want to save money by not having to pay for a monthly gym membership. Whatever the reason, this program ought to cover you if you are unable to visit the gym.

Let’s be clear from the outset: Lower body training is far more difficult than upper body and core training without a gym. That’s where this program comes in.

Upper body training has all manner of “push” exercises. And if you have a bar, “pull” exercises aren’t difficult either. But the legs, which are far stronger than the upper limb, are not easily taxed. A quick Google search shows lots of home programs for the legs – but they all suck at stimulating strength and hypertrophy. They are mostly cardiovascular or muscular endurance exercises that will do little to promote strength adaptations.

The program here will require high intensities of effort to complete and therefore should be sufficient to get the adaptations we want!
